Terms & Conditions – Private Events

Catering can be booked for any on-campus private function or event that takes place during UNE Life, Functions & Catering operating hours Monday to Friday 8am-4pm. Catering booked for any private function or event taking place after hours or on Saturday or Sunday will incur an additional surcharge that will be communicated to you by UNE Life, Functions & Catering at the time of your enquiry. Offsite Catering Bookings may incur an additional delivery fee.

Bookings must be received with a minimum 7 business days’ notice to ensure availability and allow sufficient time for a Quote to be provided and approved. Where less than 7 business days’ notice is provided, you will be invoiced an additional Late Booking Fee of 10%.

Please notify us of any special dietary requirements in advance at least 48 hours prior to your Catering Booking.

Whilst every effort will be made to accommodate all catering requests, we cannot guarantee that all requests will be able to be met and this will be communicated to you by the UNE Life, Functions & Catering Team at least 24 hours prior to your Catering Booking.

All quotes must be checked and accepted within 48 hours of being received. Your Catering Booking is confirmed when UNE Life, Functions & Catering have received your written (email) approval of the supplied Quote along with a signed and dated copy of your private event contract. Until that time, a Catering Booking is Pending.

We require at least 24 hours’ notice for any changes to a confirmed Catering Booking.

We require a minimum of 5 business days’ notice of any cancellation to a confirmed Catering Booking. You will be invoiced at a rate of 50% for any Catering Booking where less than 5 business days’ notice is provided. If less than 48 hours’ notice is provided, you will be invoiced at a rate of 100%.

Your invoice will be emailed to you at the conclusion of your Catering Booking. Any additional charges will be communicated to you by UNE Life, Functions & Catering at the time of the invoice. Full payment of your Catering Booking must be received within 14 days of the date of the invoice.

Loss or damage to the property, carpet, fixtures or fittings caused by the client, guests, agent or contractors before, during or after the function, will be the financial responsibility of the organizer, and an appropriate charge will apply. You will be invoiced for the cost of repair or replacement of any damaged or missing equipment following the Catering Booking. Whilst normal cleaning is included in venue hire and function charges, should additional cleaning be required an appropriate fee may be charged at the discretion of UNE Life, Functions & Catering.

It is your responsibility to ensure that access to the delivery location is available at the requested time.

It is your responsibility to ensure you have made a Room Booking for your function through the UNE website. UNE Life Functions & Catering are unable to make this booking for you.

Terms & Conditions – Hire Equipment

Delivery of Equipment

  • The Hirer is responsible for the collection and return of the Equipment, unless delivery and pick up by UNE Life has been previously agreed.
  • The delivery of the Equipment to the Hirer is deemed to take place when the Equipment is placed on the vehicle or with a carrier which is to take the Equipment from UNE Life’s pick-up location to the Hirer’s specified location.
  • The Hirer must inspect the Equipment on pick-up. Any concern about the Equipment is to be advised to UNE Life at the time of inspection. In the event that no concern is notified by the customer to UNE Life at the time of the pick-up, the Equipment will be deemed to be correct and in good working order.

Return of Equipment

  • The Hirer must return the Equipment at the end of the Term at the Hirer’s expense to the specified UNE Life premises (unless a pick-up by UNE Life has been previously agreed).
  • The Equipment must be returned to UNE Life clean and in the same condition as when it was received by the Hirer, subject to reasonable wear and tear.
  • Deposit, Equipment Fee, Late Fee, and Cancellation Fee
  • The Hirer agrees to pay the Equipment Fee.
  • If the Hirer fails to return the Equipment on at the end of the Term, the Hirer is liable for additional fees at the full daily rental amount for each day that the Equipment is not returned (the Late Fee).
  • If the Hirer cancels the hire of the Equipment within 5 days of the start of the Term, the Hirer is liable to pay a Cancellation Fee.
  • The Hirer will be invoiced by UNE Life after the return of the Equipment. In some circumstances, UNE Life may require a Deposit of the Equipment Fee.

Use of Equipment

The Hirer agrees to:

  • use the Equipment for the Use and for no other purpose;
  • use the Equipment at the times and dates as set out in the Details;
  • not lend, sublet or otherwise dispose of the Equipment;
  • not modify, disassemble, make any addition to, or repair the Equipment;
  • keep the Equipment in good condition;
  • not use the Equipment near or in water or where it could be effected by climatic conditions (rain, excessive heat and cold);
  • notify UNE Life by telephone and in writing immediately upon any of the following events occurring:
    (i) any loss of or damage to the Equipment; or
    (ii) inability to return the Equipment by the end of the Term.

Risk, liability, indemnity and insurance

  • The Hirer assumes risk for the Equipment from its delivery to the Hirer until return of the Equipment to UNE Life.
  • The Hirer accepts the Equipment entirely at its own risk and accepts full responsibility for any loss or damage caused to the Equipment due to the negligence or improper usage of the Equipment during the Term;
  • The Hirer indemnifies UNE Life for any loss of or damage to the Equipment (including meeting the costs incurred by UNE Life in repairing or purchasing replacement Equipment and legal costs) incurred by UNE Life in relation to any breach of this Agreement and for any liability arising out of any such breach;

Repossession

  • UNE Life may retake possession of the Equipment if the Hirer breaches any provision of this Agreement

Title to the Equipment

  • The Hirer acknowledges that UNE Life retains title to the Equipment and that the Hirer has rights to possess the Equipment as a mere bailee only.
  • The Hirer must not:
    (i)pledge UNE Life’s credit in connection with the Equipment; or
    (ii)attempt, offer or purport to sell, assign, sub-let, lend, pledge, register any security interest, mortgage, let on hire or otherwise part with or attempt to part with the personal possession of or otherwise deal with the Equipment;

Termination

  • UNE Life may terminate this Agreement without notice if extraordinary or unusual circumstances warrant such action.
  • UNE Life may terminate this Agreement and take repossession of the Equipment at any time for breach of any of term contained in this Agreement.

Terms & Conditions – UNE Life House Policy

This is a controlled, safe & secure environment which observes the principles of the Responsible Service of Alcohol

Our aim is to provide a safe and comfortable environment for everyone’s enjoyment.

To maintain this standard, we have implemented a code of conduct in which management reserves the right to refuse entry or remove anyone who does not respect The ‘Stro, its staff, or its policies.

Anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated.

  • This venue recognises that it is against the law to serve any person to intoxication.
  • This venue recognises that it is against the law to serve or supply alcohol to any person under the age of 18.
  • This venue recognises that it is against the law to allow intoxicated, disruptive, or violent behaviour to occur on premises.
  • This venue seeks to ensure that no harm comes to patrons as a result of our service of alcohol.
  • On nights where The ‘Stro is reaching capacity, management reserves the right to give students preference of entry over non-students.

To ensure adherence to the above this venue has adopted the following policies:

  1. This venue offers a range of drinks including low alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks
  2. This venue will not serve more than 1 nip (30 ml) in a glass
  3. This venue will not serve “shots”
  4. This venue will supply free drinking water
  5. This venue will not serve or allow the provision of alcohol to patrons under the age of 18
  6. This venue will recognise the signs of intoxication and will refuse service to any intoxicated person and will ask them to leave
  7. This venue will not admit, service, supply, or allow the supply of alcohol to anyone who appears intoxicated
  8. This venue will discourage people from harming themselves or others
  9. This venue will not permit intoxication, fighting, abusive or obscene language or suggestions, unwelcome advances or physical contact directed at customers or staff
  10. This venue will remove any unattended drinks.
  11. If a staff member feels that a person is becoming intoxicated, they will be asked to leave
  12. If a staff member feels that a patron has become intoxicated, they will be asked to leave
  13. If such a patron fails to leave, the Police will be called, and the patron may be fined
  14. If a patron is excluded, by law they are to stay more than 50 meters away from the premises. The patron cannot return to the venue for at least 24 hours.
  15. This venue will not participate in undesirable liquor promotions
